Facebook to be live on Bing and Google are you ready?

Well the news broke last week that Bing will soon be including Feeds from Social media giant Facebook in live search. We are sure that Google will soon follow. Already Twitter is being implemented as we speak, you can check out the Beta here http://www.bing.com/Twitter .

We don’t really know how Facebook feeds will be implemented in live search however there are some changes that can be made to prepare. We need to decide if we want our information ( sometimes personal information) in live search or not.

For most users these are some minor tweaks to your profiles so that you are not includedat this time. However If you own a business and want exposure you need to pay close attention to steps you should take to prepare.

All changes below are done by clicking on settings at the top right of your Facebook page. The clicking privacy to get into your privacy settings.

 Profile Tab

Profile Tab: The first tab we click is the profile tab. Here you want to pay very close attention to each box. There is some information here that you may not want to share with all of your friends.

Search Tab

Search Tab:This is very important because by default the box is already checked to add your name to search engines. This means that any information in the boxes above this selection will be visible to the whole world. If you do not want anyone in the world to find you then you will want to uncheck this box. On the other hand as a business you will more then likeyly want all of this information available.

Remember by default the following information will be in live search for the world to see.

Your Name. Location etc..

So if you do not want the world to see this then change it now> If however you do. Then optimize this so you can be found and included in live search. This means brushing up your Facebook profile the way you want it to be found by others.

Newsfeedandwall

News Feed and Wall,This is the final section we need to adjust, for this section go down through and check and uncheck which items you want others to see. The key here is to make your posting clear and not over post so use your own judgement.

These are just the basics. We will post again as things become more clear on how Facebook is going to be included in live search. By following the above recommendations you will at least have started to prepare.
