Up until a few months back I protested joining both Facebook and Twitter because of my old school thoughts that I only use the internet for work and social networks are a glorified chat room that I wanted no part of. Well after enough pressure from different people including my wife I decided to join Facebook .Only after my wife sent me a cow from farmville. I needed to see what the fuss was all about. Shortly after joining , friends from high school and aquintances I have met throughout life began to befriend me once again after all these years. Someone mentioned the fact I should join Twitter because I can use it as a tool to be informed up to the minute when things happen so somewhat reluctantly I joined. I said to myself okay now I am here so what next?
It all started when I typed 3 simple letters in the twitter search bar so I typed SEO. Immediately I noticed a tweet that said follow the top SEO Profesionals with one easy step. I followed the link and began following 40 people in The SEO network.
What happened next completely shocked me, not only did I learn some things and discover that If there was a live stream of a conference or someone doing live blogging that I would know and easily be directed to the site to monitor al of this but I also realised that I would come to know many of these people that do the same work I do personally.
Who would have thought the day would come that I would know and actualy see a picure of what Mihael Gray AKA @graywolf was having for dinner. This thought never crossed my mind. I did not know that this man spent his day much like me, cooking and taking care of the kids after school.
Now Rae Hoffman aka @sugarrae is someone I consider one of the best in the business, Her talks are very imformative and she has some awesome knowledge of Affiliate marketing. However I did not realise that outside of work @sugarrae is the Ozzy of Twitter. Wow my virgin ears or eyes should I say. I quickly realised that Rae is outspoken ( and I respect her for that) but be forwarned if you follow her you better be ready for straight talk (LOL).
Speaking of Outspoken Lisa Barone aka @lisabarone who is the Co-founder, Branding Officer & PITA at Outspoken Media is also on twitter. I consider Lisa a Twitter addict and a bad one at that. Just the other day not only did I know when she got on the plane, I also knew she was sitting next to a bratty kid and an old man, I also learned the plane left 15 minutes early, I knew when she arrived and that she took a cab home.Whew I have enough trouble following my own life Lisa (LOL).
I have only mentioned a few Top SEO’s on Twitter here and I will tell you it has been interesting to say the least. Not only have I gained more knowledge but I have also learned that I am not the only SEO that also lives a normal life. It seems all of us do.
