Well times they are a changing again. With the boom of popularity with social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook it is more important then ever that as SEO professionals we learn how to use these tools to market our products or websites.

   Today we are going to concentrate on Twitter. In order to succeed on Twitter we need to gain mass followers so that our tweet gets out to a  good audience. The question people have is how do we do this. The answer is fairly simple but does take some work. You need to follow others so they will follow you. This is the most important thing you can do over time. So let’s look at the secret of how we do this.

   Some people will use automated tools to do this however we recommend you do it by hand, this will take you about 15- 20 minutes each day.  So here are the rules you need to follow to make this succeed.

GAINING MASS FOLLOWERS

The daily limit allowed is 1000 friend adds on Twitter. So if you were to add 1000 people. The chances are you will gain 500 more followers in one day.

 The best way to look for followers is to look at who is following you and start following some of their followers. You can also do a search for people using keywords.

The next day before you follow 1000 more you will need to remove the followers who did not follow you back. Here is a simple program you can use to remove the followers.

Mutuality- This is the best tool. Very simple to use. All you have to do is put your username and password in and click  Unfollow all who do not follow you back. Wait 2 minutes and you’re done. Mutuality allows any number of followers so is especially useful when you have10,20, 30k+ followers.

TWITTER LIMITS

Now here is where it get’s a little tricky.

Here are Twitter’s limits

1. You can only add 1000 people in one day.

2. You are only allowed to follow 2000 followers at a time.

3. You can bypass this 2000 followers limit if you have 1800 people following you
back.

4. From this point on you can only follow 10% more people than are following
you.

AVOIDING TWITTER SPAM

Now let’s look at spam. In order to prevent Twitter banning your site I recommend you tweet an average of once per hour. At Least until you get a good number of followers. I know this sounds like a lot of work but with the right program it is very easy to do. I use a program that allows me to schedule tweets and do all kinds of cool things. Now for some final words. When you get a ton of followers you want to make your tweets count. Make sure you think them pout and if you can ask to have the tweet retweeted. Many people miss this step and it can gain you many new followers. Think about it if one of  your followers Retweats your message and they have 20,000 followers how many more possible followers are you going to get? The number is endless really.
