Well we have been warned the clock is ticking and the launch of Google caffeine is getting very near. The changes we make today may make it in the nick of time for the launch of caffeine. The question is do we have to change anything? If we do then what is it we need to change.

   Well first of all let’s look at what Google has told us (which is very little as usual). Google has said that the “changes under the hood” include a few elements. One of them is indexing speed. By looking at this we know a few things, the first is that Google will be indexing pages m,uch faster and the second is that Google has stated they will index more pages.

   To start off with we should take a real good look at our sites since soon more pages from our site may finally get into the index. We want to make sure these pages are ready so we need to pay close attention to how those pages are optimised. We need to make sure the pages are a good fit and load fast. Make sure our titles are in place and our keywords coincide with our titles.

  Now let’s look at another factor in google Caffeine that may in fact be a ranking killer if we do not pay attention. As I have said Google gives us few clues when it comes to caffeine however Matt Cutts has made one point recently that may play a big role in how our pages perform in the index. The clue is load time. Apparently load time ( for the first time) is going to be a factor in ranking pages. So the best thing we can do is optimise our pages to load quickly. This means cutting down on images and optimizing images that need to stay. This also means having a solid quick loading site structure.

  So the basics we covered are having our whole sites prepared for quicker indexing and optimizing pages so hey lad quickly. We really need to take the time now to prepare our sites otherwise come January 2010 we may be in for a big drop in rankings.
